A Musical Manifesto for 2023 – Act 2

Take a look at Part I of the Musical Manifesto for 2023, and check out Act I, Act III, and Act IV, if you haven’t already – and catch the whole playlist below!

Thank you, DenverThread for letting me share this musical manifesto that filled the community with joy in 2023. This list is my opinion of good music in an American Bandstand type of way — it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it. The first quarter of the year had some songs that dominated with multiple tracks on the list. This section found a lot of new people planting their flag in this territory with some of the industry’s biggest stars making the b-side section. I hope you enjoy and keep an eye out for the next two  acts that will soon drop on DenverThread.

Act II of 2023 starts with One Without by Oliver Coates, an entry from the soundtrack to the acclaimed movie Aftersun. “When the people ‘got the power, you see human, I see a God” rolls across the smooth sounds of Barry Can’t Swim’s Woman. Romy is back with “The Feel Good” song of the year Enjoy Your Life off her amazing album Mid Air. Right Now by Vitesse X brings more cool flows from the brilliant NY act. I also love this connection of “Enjoy Your Life Right Now” so we can really find joy.

Neggy Gemmy is back with Reiki to get that vibe we need to recharge and renew.

I’m a child of soul music so Off My Mind by Coco & Breezy with SAM WHITE grabbed me. Tensnake enlisted on of my favorites, Jessy Lanza, for Keep It Secret, and as the “oh yeah” starts the song, I knew were were going to dance. Hard to believe TDJ is just joining the list as their music constantly fills my life, and the song Shhh (Just Outside) is from the RIFT Two compilation.

The glamorous Jessy Ware keeps the groove with Freak Me Now appropriately followed by Zhu with Devault and Baby Jake’s track Revelations with a line that speaks to me: “Just a ordinary man, Chasin’ dreams when I can”. Better Times from KC Lights with Låpsley drives the beat toward the change that will always come in our lives. Neggy Gemmy is back with Reiki to get that vibe we need to recharge and renew.

Loveher by Romy is a beautiful story of creating a loving relationship.

The beat to Lose My Mind from AC Slater with NuBass and Kaleena Zanders accentuates the lyric “Elevate Your Mind” so much I was surprised at the actual title. Dominoes by Jungle continues their takeover of hearts across the globe. A staple of my lists, The Weeknd is back with Playboi Carti and an original Goddess of Popular, Madonna. Loveher by Romy is a beautiful story of creating a loving relationship. Jon Hopkins finishes this main segment of Act 2 with Ascending, Dawn Sky – Meditation Version. What a place to settle.

We get a run of bonus sounds as Taylor Swift delivers Hits Different from her Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) right before she was ready to come put on her amazing show in Denver. Jessy Lanza, solo this time, dropped Midnight Ontario, and we then had two songs featuring Future come in back to back – No Time Wasted from Polo G with Future and Double Fantasy from The Weeknd with Future. Vitesse X comes back into the mix hard with Richochet. This Act continues with Candle Flame by Jungle remixed by Opolopo then Fell in Love from Marshmello and Brent Faiyez – “Do it for the love” Most Certainly.
