Confidence Man was Wild at Meow Wolf

Fresh off winning BBC Radio 1 Dance Awards Best Breakthrough Dance Artist, Confidence Man landed in Denver for a show at Meow Wolf that attendees will always remember.

As Reggie Goodchild introduced the scene working the decks with a Sia-esque hat covering their face, the music started to set the room for the arrival of Janet Planet and Sugar Bones, two beautiful singers and the lead performers who would hold the crowd’s eyes in rapture for the night.

Beautiful, yet with a sinister seduction–like Bond villains or a Moulin Rogue flair–these two were here to entertain in a way only they can with multiple costume changes, acrobatics worthy of Cirque du Soleil, and their music–layered succulently with cocky fun.

They kicked off the set with Now U Do, a banger they crafted with DJ Seinfeld, and followed up with Does It Make You Feel Good? from 2019 – right? “ALL MY PEOPLE, where you at?” was the call out from Janet Planet as we moved our asses on cue with no hesitation–and in the polite manner that our new Denver is known for.

A few songs from 2023’s 3AM (La La La), CONTROL and I CAN’T LOSE YOU, kept things moving and showcased their song writing, which is emerging and erupting, ready to take them to higher places. Firebreak was a dj-only song that allowed the major stimulation of the two singers to settle, but then they came back strong with Feels Like a Different Thing–true for so many of their songs. I love their creativity! This song also harkens back to dance parties with Dee-lite’s Groove is in the Heart

C.O.O.L. Party showcases a different style of song that fits with the later track Boyfriend (Repeat) as they both share great beats with lyrics that lead to bucking normalcy, and championing rebellion.

The group’s brand new album 4AM (LA LA LA) takes us away from the mundane with REAL MOVE TOUCH , complete with an erotic style that the two performers delivered with a fury. SO WHAT keeps us less settled, itching to watch and be part of the action!!! Come on, Come on, Come on!!!!

This is the type of action that goes into creating the nights to remember that people are part of – not just observing.

I love Meow Wolf and the world it has opened in Denver plus New Mexico earlier, as it is someone’s imaginative creation. Guests are encouraged to visit that world moving through the channels to explore these worlds. Watching Confidence Man perform almost seemed like an exhibit that encouraged fans going crazy with the masterpiece of art that Janet Planet and Sugar Bones delivered.
