Denver’s Marquis Theater hosted an incredible performance by screamo project your arms are my cocoon last Thursday, and no-one left less than fully sated. The show was an important stop on the “death of a rabbit” tour, which is visiting various cities to show fas yaamc’s own blend of ambient, hardcore, and screamo to diehard fans. Originating as a solo project started by Tyler Odom in 2020, yaamc has grown into a four-piece band featuring Tyler and multi-instrumentalists DK, Lobo, and Alyssa. The Marquis’ intimate atmosphere – highlighting the profound connection between the band and the audience – thoroughly enhanced the immersive experience this project is all about.

Showing off tracks like “snowy!”, “muffled beneath the sound of the ocean,” “raisin lungs,” “in October of 2019 i called a suicide hotline for the first time in my life,” “city on fire (closeness),” “houston,” and “death of a rabbit,”  yaamc showcased an excellent blend of songs from both their eponymous release and the “death of a rabbit” release, showcasing the evolution and depth of the band they’ve begun morphing into. Interspersed throughout the set were ambient interludes; reflective pauses seamlessly bridging transitions between both intense and introspective moments.

The “death of a rabbit” tour is successfully thrusting your arms are my cocoon’s sound out to a much larger audience, creating a following through fusion of those ambient soundscapes with raw, emotive vocals. The mix creates huge periods of catharsis again & again throughout the show that resonate deeply in the crowd. The total tour experience is enthralling all kinds of music fans – screamo, hardcore, you name it. The Marquis show was no exception, offering the crowd an intimate, unforgettable, and maybe even transformative evening.
