Ella Luna Woos the Mercury Cafe

With her smooth character and confidence – and a voice that lulls the room while perking up each ear – Ella Luna serenaded a packed room at the Mercury Cafe last Thursday night. Ella Luna is Alysso Stoner, almost fresh out of high school and Denver’s young and talented answer to Nora Jones and Lucy Dacus (for the time being – but keep your eyes on her).
Joined by other talent from her (upcoming) alma mater, the Denver School of the Arts, Stoner led a band through an hour of sultry, jazzy, smart selections from her own repertoire – many on her latest release “Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride.” – the reason for the party that night.
As is evident in her recorded work, Stoner showed off a maturity in both singing skill and songwriting well beyond her years. We caught a few moments in photo, above. For the real thing, check out Ella Luna on Spotify.
