Minneapolis’ Motion City Soundtrack came to Denver’s Summit Music Hall last Monday night and brought together a crowd of young adults all impacted by the band’s emotional pop-punk music about love, heartbreak, and confusing emotions.
Colorado’s own Silver and Gold
Opening first was local Greeley band Silver and Gold. With a mix of indie & pop-punk styles, this band has had no trouble creating a unique sound for themselves. The five-piece had even less trouble getting people listening and making heads start bobbing with their traditional, intriguing sound.
Crowd Pleaser Mom Jeans.
Next in the lineup was a California band uniquely named Mom Jeans.. This fashionable band managed to create both energetic and fun vibes at the show with energetic music and emotional punk relatable lyrics. The band definitely related more to the younger crowd at the show with their songs about the endless heartache of young love.
Motion City Soundtrack Impacts us Emotionally
Finally, Motion City Soundtrack Brought everyone to the pit as soon as the lights dimmed. Right off the bat, this band brought the show together like the rug in Lebowski’s apartment. From the second they started playing the crowd was singing along, dancing, and smiling. Motion City Soundtrack brought a beautiful mixture of pop-punk and emo music to the table, bringing us straight back to the emotional mess of the early 2000’s.
Frontman Justin Pierre related to and connected splendidly with the audience, telling stories and being as friendly with the crowd as if they were in his living room, even though it was also a deeply emotional atmosphere. This band is especially good if you’re a fan of traditional pop-punk, which is where their base came from.
All in all, the night at the Summit was both impacting and gorgeous
