September 16, 2023Chuck D, Talib Kweli, The Reminders = SoJo = A Conversation We Need to Have
As the world celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the birth of hip-hop, 104.7 THE DROP is proud to bring together hip-hop pioneer Chuck D of Public Enemy, Talib Kweli and Colorado’s own, The Reminders, and MC Dent all hosting a community conversation and concert.
Known as SoJo, this multigenerational, commUNITY-focused gathering will highlight hip-hop history makers and their impact on the culture for a special evening, with music as the backdrop.
“In the spirit of Sojourner Truth and her unapologetic pursuit of justice, SoJo proudly celebrates THE DROP’s love for hip hop with more than an opportunity to sing along to the some of the genre’s most legendary artists, but with a chance to truly engage in a community-centric conversation that aims to inspire change,” Nikki Swarn, general manager for 104.7 THE DROP and KUVO JAZZ 89.3 said.
“As hip-hop reaches a new milestone, we hope this event will represent unity and knowledge sharing across the community and continue to elevate hip-hop as currency sparking a revolution that hasn’t been seen since the onset of jazz.”
SoJo happens this Sunday, September 17th, at Levitt Pavilion, 1380 W Florida Ave, Denver, CO 80223. Tickets are $10.80, including fees, and can be purchased online. Doors open at 3 pm for the 4-8 pm event.
This special event will kick off with a moderated conversation and Q&A hosted by 104.7 THE DROP on-air personality Amerykah Jones and Chuck D. The event will close with musical performances by Talib Kweli, The Reminders and MC Dent.
