Global Dance Fest: Day Two Takes Denver to Another Level

Well Global Dance Festival entered its 2nd day of its 20th year and the intensity and energy just continued to progress throughout the day!
Day 2 featured Rico Aramis and Sentichi, Joof, RC3 and Wessyde, James Egbert, Surf Mesa, SideKick, Benda and Stone Level and finishing the night with Troyboi, Zedd, Seth Trowler, and Marauda also most certainly there are a ton of other ones that I couldn’t possibly get to. The 3 stages each assembled an assortment of different beats from House to Techno to the unbridled forcefulness and endurance of Dub Step.
Global Dance features 3 different stages in appearance and set up and also in musical style. Of course the “Summit Stage” hosted the bigger acts – like headliner Zedd and Troyboi – who played right before Zedd. These two brought fans gathered up on the Colfax bridge overlooking the venue for a cool fun free show from uptop.
The “Amazon Stage” had some DJ’s that played a smoother and a bit melodic. Even though it was the smaller of all the stages it didn’t lack any punch when it came time to jam.
The 3rd stage was the one that made my experience at Global Dance the most memorable. Being the 2nd day, and a little more chill after the explosive first day – I found I liked to hang out at the lounge area in the VIP section and get a feel of this year’s vibe. Overwhelmingly, it was “DubStep” that set the tone! Dubstep this and DubStep that: “you have to catch Marauda, you have to catch Marauda!” OK OK I got it I’ll definitely catch them last.

So the first thing I noticed when I walked into the photo pit at Marauda is the precipitous feeling of consuming heat. The smell of immense action and release of pent up energy. The sight of both hands on the steel barrier gripping it like they wanted to jump over the railing and take flight.
The kids actually lifted the rails off the ground – all of them working together along with the beat, making faces of profound force. An impassioned look, and I have to take a 2nd look, at a 5-foot-tall, less than 100-pound woman, bashing skulls with one of her guy friends. Absolutely nuts!
And then there the Mosh Pit. Risking life and limb, I dared to venture onto the pit area. I had to catch my man Chris Gindro leading and patrolling the pit anytime I saw one get started.
What a great way to end my experience at the 2023 Global Dance Festival. This one was one to remember.
