Spring returned to the Front Range in classic Colorado fashion—cold, wet, and unpredictable. But none of that mattered to the thousands of electronic music fans who descended on Red Rocks for the season-opening show featuring Denver-based, Chicago-born DJ Mike Inzano, better known as INZO. With rain falling steadily throughout the evening, the crowd danced, slipped, and stomped their way into what was easily one of the most memorable nights to kick off the 2025 Red Rocks calendar.

Though the weather felt more like a soggy challenge than a welcome mat, it did nothing to dampen the collective energy. INZO’s fans came ready—and he more than delivered.

Dirty Monkey Brings the Heat to a Chilly Crowd

Opening duties went to Dirty Monkey, and it’s safe to say he didn’t just warm up the stage—he ignited it. His set was packed with hard-hitting drops, dense rhythm layers, and a genre-blending vibe that had the crowd moving from the first beat. Despite the slick rocks and chilly mist, the amphitheater was bouncing. Dirty Monkey’s dynamic energy and seamless transitions between breakneck beats and bass-heavy breakdowns made for a relentless, high-voltage set.

In a scene where openers sometimes blend into the background, Dirty Monkey stood out. It’s a testament to how EDM culture often nurtures rising talent, providing a platform for lesser-known DJs to absolutely crush in front of large, loyal crowds. It’s a beautiful aspect of this genre, and this show was a prime example.

From Chill Vibes to Full Send: INZO’s Sonic Shift

When INZO finally took the stage, the roar of the crowd nearly drowned out the rain. Having scoped out his recorded catalog before the show, I expected mellow, downtempo vibes—a kind of soothing soundtrack for headphones or late-night drives. But live? Totally different story. From the jump, INZO flipped the switch and turned up the heat, pushing through the rain with a set that felt like a journey through every corner of his musical imagination.

As it turns out, his eclecticism is no accident. INZO has said, “If I could make any and every genre, I would.” That passion for musical variety was on full display. His performance wove together EDM, hip hop, funk, trap, bass music, and even psychedelic textures, all with a storyteller’s finesse.

And yes, the now-infamous remix of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” brought the crowd to another level. It was one of those rare moments when a cover becomes a full-on transformation—a surge of nostalgia wrapped in bass-heavy energy that lit up every soaked fan in the place. If you missed it, I caught it on video—check it out on TikTok (@gfederico17) for a taste of just how electric that moment was.

“Sad, Happy, Whatever”—INZO Crafts a True Experience

What makes INZO stand out isn’t just his ability to genre-hop—it’s his intention. As he’s said, “Sad, happy, whatever — I just want my music to be an experience.” And that’s exactly what the night became: not just a concert, but a full sensory experience.

Lights sliced through the mist. Beats pulsed through the rocks. Hoodies and ponchos clung to soaked shoulders, but no one stopped dancing. Every drop of rain seemed to bounce with the bass, turning the natural acoustics of Red Rocks into something cinematic. It was sweaty, wet, and chaotic—but also beautiful in its own way.

Even for fans who came expecting more laid-back grooves, INZO’s ability to build tension, switch tempo, and throw in left-turn drops kept things unpredictable. The crowd responded to every shift like a wave, riding the emotional highs and vibey valleys that came with each new track.

Red Rocks: Always an Adventure

Let’s be real—spring at Red Rocks is always a bit of a gamble. One minute it’s sunny and warm, the next you’re drenched in freezing rain. But that’s part of the adventure, and part of what makes every show at this iconic venue unforgettable. The community that gathers here embraces the unpredictability. They come prepared with rain gear, great outfits, and great attitudes. It’s a shared commitment to music, atmosphere, and the moment.

This show was a perfect reminder of that spirit. Despite being soaked to the bone, no one seemed to care. Everyone was smiling, moving, laughing with strangers—united by sound, rhythm, and a sense of shared surrender to the elements.

A Vibe That Set the Tone for the Season

As far as season openers go, INZO’s show was a benchmark. It wasn’t just a night of music—it was a full-body experience. One that confirmed the strength of Denver’s EDM scene, the power of an artist who refuses to be pinned down, and the raw, unfiltered magic that Red Rocks delivers even in less-than-ideal conditions.

If this show is any indication, we’re in for one hell of a concert season in 2025. Keep your eyes on INZO—his future is as genre-defying and electrifying as his Red Rocks debut.
